Year 9 Parents' Evening

This takes place on Thursday next week. All parents should have received an options form, a progress report and an invitation to book appointments through Bromcom.

ParentPay

There are an increasing number of students who are running up debts on their school meal account on ParentPay. Please ensure your son's account is kept above zero. You can set up an auto top up on ParentPay, so your son will never run out of funds.

Careers Fair

This takes place on Tuesday 28^th January. It will give years 9, 11 and 6^th Form an opportunity to meet professionals, HE and FE providers to ask questions about the opportunities available to them.

Fundraising

Preparations are well underway for the Glow Green Walk next month with a visit today from the Clatterbridge fundraising team bringing our entry packs for the walk.

Mrs Weston shared her reason for participating in the walk.

My mum, who passed away in 1992, just seven months shy of her 40th birthday, I was 8 years old and my brother was only 6. She was a formidable woman who accomplished so much in her brief time with us. I want to continue fundraising in her memory, for the hospital that cared for her during her final few months.

Our Debate Mate team are in action again next week in Liverpool. Good luck boys!

Year 8 STEM Faraday Challenge 

This competitive, fun and hands-on engineering challenge day takes place next week. Students will learn key STEM skills, problem-solving, team-working and communication. 

Library

Round 1 of the Year 8 Spelling Bee took place last Friday.  Well done to those students who completed this round. A special shout out to Marshall Hughes, Tom Steele and Charlie Thomason,  who all scored 10/10! Each student earns 10 points for taking part and 10 points for each correct spelling, 8F1 are currently in the lead with the most points! Round 2 takes place during am registration tomorrow.

Honouring Holocaust Memorial Day on Monday 27^th January our Book of the Week this week is I Survived: The Nazi Invasion 1944 and follows Max and his sister Zena as they escape a Jewish ghetto in Poland and find resistance fighters in the forest. A wonderfully rendered graphic novel with factual content at the back of the book, this is a must read.

Cake Sale

We raised just over £100 for the North West Air Ambulance charity last week. There will be another sale just before the half-term holiday on Tuesday 11^th February.

Look out for posters in school in the days leading up to the event.

Reporting an Absence 

Parents must telephone the school attendance line (0151 638 8131, option 1) on the first day of absence before 8.45am and on each subsequent day of absence. Alternatively, you can email attendance@mosslands.wirral.sch.uk. Please do not use the admin@mosslands email or the contact school option on the My Child at School app as these do not go directly to attendance, and you may still get a truancy call. It is our duty to keep your child safe, so if you do not inform us, you will receive a truancy call. You will receive 6 further calls until you respond.  The number which will display as an incoming call is a Sheffield number, 0114 303 4042.
