STEM Windmill Construction
On Tuesday 25th January 50 Year 9 pupils enjoyed an inspiring and fun STEM activity delivered by the Smallpeice Trust. Pupils worked in teams to create, build and test a wind turbine. The activity was a great opportunity for pupils to enhance their creativity, design and engineering skills.
In the wind turbine project students designed and constructed a wind turbine to produce the greatest amount of electricity. There were three main elements to the project:
- Construction of a circuit to convert turbine rotation to electricity
- Turbine blade design and construction to maximise output
- Design and construction of the tower to carry the turbine
Subjects covered included renewable energy, wind power and electricity.
