Year 7 HUSCO STE@M Visit
After a whole 15 days of full time secondary education at Mosslands school , it was time for some of our Year 7 students to experience and take in "learning outside of the classroom" with a visit to HUSCO Internation in Runcorn.
Once described as “the hidden power behind the big yellow machines” (other colour variants are available) HUSCO international, a market leader in hydraulic and electrohydraulic control systems invited Mosslands students to celebrate both the companies 40th Anniversary at Runcorn and National Manufacturing Day.
Our students had a swell time, receiving both treats and learning! Plus gaining the chance to see the potential careers and jobs on offer within the diverse manufacturing sector. National Manufacturing Day is a celebration of all of the industry’s sub-sectors including automotive, food and drink, aerospace, defence, chemical and pharma have to offer the young engineers of tomorrow. The hands-on competitive introduction to hydraulic control systems was our students favourite. and Who wouldn’t want to sit behind the controls of an excavator so we thanks the HUSCO team for their imagination in inspiring young engineers and informing them about the right path to take!
As Jack and Chester (Y7) wrote
“it has motivated me even more to become an engineer when I grow up, this visit was truly helpful and has increased my knowledge about STEM and Hydraulics”
“We got the chance to experience what a day in the life of an engineer was like”
