Mosslands Hits the Slopes: An Unforgettable Austrian Adventure
Last week, our students embarked on an exhilarating skiing adventure to the magnificent Ski Amadé region in Austria, creating memories that will last a lifetime. After departing from school on Saturday afternoon, our excited travellers journeyed across Europe in comfortable coaches, crossing the Channel via ferry before arriving at the picturesque Gasthof Schützenhof and Hotel Alte Post.

From Beginners to Mountaineers
What a transformation we witnessed over five incredible days on the slopes!
Day one saw most of our students finding their ski legs on the practice slopes, displaying tremendous determination despite tired muscles and new challenges. By midweek, the progress was nothing short of remarkable – virtually every student had graduated from the nursery slopes to explore the main mountain ski area, a tremendous achievement that filled the coaches with excited chatter about jumps, falls, and newfound skills.
"The feeling of confidence growing each day was wonderful to see," commented one of our staff members. "Students who had never skied before were tackling blue runs with smiles on their faces by the end of the week."

Our experienced staff skiers provided outstanding support throughout, working alongside the professional instructors who quickly built excellent relationships with our students. By the final days, groups were confidently navigating various parts of the resort, with some making special trips to the infamous 'Donut Shack' – home to what many declared "the best Austrian donuts you will ever eat!"

Evening Adventures
The excitement didn't stop when the skiing ended. Our evenings were packed with activities that fostered friendship and fun:
An exhilarating Alpine toboggan run had students racing down in pairs or solo, filling the night air with laughter.
The pool hall provided a welcome change of pace for our students to showcase different skills.
Competitive spirits emerged during our evening at the local bowling alley.
There was also time to explore the local area, sampling Austrian treats and picking up souvenirs.

A Journey to Remember
Throughout the trip, our students represented Mosslands impeccably, with excellent behaviour noted by hotel staff, instructors, and activity providers alike. The breathtaking Alpine scenery provided a stunning backdrop as students dined at mountain restaurants, enjoying magnificent views along with their meals.
After a final day savouring the slopes, equipment was returned, and our travellers began the journey home – tired but fulfilled, with coaches full of sleeping adventurers dreaming of mountain peaks and perfect powder.
The trip was a tremendous success, developing not just skiing ability, but also independence, resilience, and friendship. Many students are already asking when they can return to the mountains – a testament to the impact of this extraordinary educational experience.

Special thanks must go to our dedicated staff who supported students throughout the trip, and to the students themselves for embracing every opportunity with such enthusiasm and positivity.

Reporting an Absence
Parents must telephone the school attendance line (0151 638 8131, option 1) on the first day of absence before 8.45am and on each subsequent day of absence. Alternatively, you can email attendance@mosslands.wirral.sch.uk. Please do not use the admin@mosslands email or the contact school option on the My Child at School app as these do not go directly to attendance, and you may still get a truancy call. It is our duty to keep your child safe, so if you do not inform us, you will receive a truancy call. You will receive 6 further calls until you respond. The number which will display as an incoming call is a Sheffield number, 0114 303 4042.
