Y11 & 13 Examinations

Year 13 return to their normal timetable on Monday with Y11 returning on Tuesday. There will be art and philosophy and ethics exams on Tuesday for some Y11.

Careers

Year 10 work experience self placement forms MUST be returned to the careers office in school by Friday 29^th November.

PLACED Academy is a free-to-access programme supporting young people in accessing careers in the built environment, including architecture, planning, urban design, and landscape architecture. Taking place outside of school, activities see students developing a wide range of skills, growing in confidence, and being empowered to shape places of the future. Many go onto careers in the sector.

Green Careers Week - Please find attached the parent guide 

Activities Next Week:

Tuesday 12^th November - All Year 10 will be out at The Hive for the "What Next" Careers Fair p.3 and 4. They should meet in the hall at the end of break.

Friday 15^th November - A group of students from years 8-10 will be at an engineering day at LJMU and will be out all day. Parents of pupils involved have been informed.

Drama

Drama Club is cancelled this week as Mrs. Brett is on a training course. It will return on Friday 15^th November.

1984 theatre trip - Year 10, 11 and Sixth Form drama pupils on Thursday 21^st November. This is now on ParentPay. Please return reply slips to Mrs. Brett.

Music Department 

This week, we were invited to perform in Birkenhead's new iconic performance venue, Future Yard.  Our boys took centre stage with the first band, CCD, made up of Charlie Wiggins, Charlie Connor and Dexter Wilcock, performing Metallica’s Seek and Destroy along with ACDC’s hit Back in Black. The Three Amigos, comprising of Alex Evans, Aaron Banks and Charlie Wiggins performed the legendary Oasis track Wonderwall.

We would like to say a huge thank you to all the music staff of Holy Family Multi Academy Trust and the guys running Future Yard for their unswerving and enthusiastic support for our boys on the night. This included allowing them rehearsal time and giving them the opportunity to perform with professional musicians. We look forward to taking part in further events in 2025 and watching our future rock stars continue to enjoy their music whilst rocking it!

KS3 Science Revision Guides

Revision guides for KS3 science are available to buy on ParentPay. They are suitable for students in years 7-9 and are £5.

Library

This week, a selection of our wonderful students have volunteered at Wallasey Village Community Library to help get the books ready for the library's opening.  Our students worked incredibly hard, stamping and sticking date labels in many of the books. As a thank you for their hard work and dedication to this cause, we rewarded the boys with a certificate and an Amazon voucher, which was well deserved. Well done!

Our Book of the Week this week is Brock by Anthony McGowan, which is one of a series of books that follows two brothers who stand up to a local gang and try to save a badger cub. A compelling short story written in a dyslexia-friendly format that is perfect for our students.

Food Allergy Awareness

Please could all parents/carers ensure we have up-to-date allergy and dietary information for their son. In all school years, students may be involved in tasting and cooking a variety of different foods. We will accommodate for allergies and dietary needs, but only if we are made aware beforehand.

Reporting an Absence 

Parents must telephone the school attendance line (0151 638 8131, option 1) on the first day of absence before 8.45am and on each subsequent day of absence. Alternatively, you can email attendance@mosslands.wirral.sch.uk. Please do not use the admin@mosslands email or the contact school option on the My Child at School app as these do not go directly to attendance, and you may still get a truancy call. It is our duty to keep your child safe, so if you do not inform us, you will receive a truancy call. You will receive 6 further calls until you respond.  The number which will display as an incoming call is a Sheffield number, 0114 303 4042.
