A Message from Mr Whiteley

Please remember that school will be closed to pupils tomorrow, Friday 11th October, for a staff training day.

We are currently in the process of recruiting for a parent governor.  The details of the 3 candidates who put themselves forward will be sent out by email in due course, and as is customary, the decision is open to a parental vote.  Each family can vote once, either using the electronic link in the letter, or by filling in the voting slip and returning it to the school office.  If you would prefer, this can be returned by email to admin@mosslands.wirral.sch.uk, marked as Parental Governor Election.

The vote will close at the end of the day on Thursday 17th October, and we will inform you of the outcome.  Can I particularly thank those parents who put themselves forward?  It is heartening to see their aspirations for the school. I look forward to welcoming the successful candidate to our governing body.

A reminder to Y11 parents and students that our 6th Form Open Evening starts at 6pm this evening.  It is vital that Y11 students start researching and applying for their next destinations.  They will be facing their mock examinations in November and this is the springboard for future qualifications and careers and must be taken seriously.

Once again, I urge all parents to make sure children are present in school, whenever possible.  Attendance is a crucial factor in success.

PE Kit

We have received information from the EV2 supplier that they do currently have a number of back orders of stock waiting to be produced. This stock should be with them by the middle of next week, and they will then work on shipping the outstanding orders out to parents as quickly as possible.

New York Trip Fundraiser

On Friday 18th October, the 73 students that will be going to New York in March for a sports tour will be taking part in a 24-hour football match that will start on Friday morning at 8am and finish on Saturday at 8am. This is a fundraiser to raise money for the students' tour kit to go alongside the generous sponsorship from West Wallasey Van Hire, who will be our tour sponsor for a third straight sports tour. Across the event there will be well over 250 students taking part and a group of students that will take on the tough challenge of playing football into the early hours of Saturday morning.

Food Allergy Awareness

Please could all parents/carers ensure we have up-to-date allergy and dietary information for their son. In all school years, students may be involved in tasting and cooking a variety of different foods. We will accommodate for allergies and dietary needs, but only if we are made aware beforehand.

Please contact the school office with updated information on 0151 638 8131 or via email admin@mosslands.wirral.sch.uk

Reporting an Absence

Parents must telephone the school attendance line (0151 638 8131, option 1) on the first day of absence before 8.45am and on each subsequent day of absence. Alternatively, you can email attendance@mosslands.wirral.sch.uk. Please do not use the admin@mosslands email or the contact school option on the My Child at School app as these do not go directly to attendance, and you may still get a truancy call. It is our duty to keep your child safe, so if you do not inform us, you will receive a truancy call. You will receive 6 further calls until you respond.  The number which will display as an incoming call is a Sheffield number, 0114 303 4042.

Medication in School

If you have any questions or concerns regarding medication in school, please contact the SEND Department. Students should not bring medication into school and any medication should be registered at reception. If your child is diagnosed as being asthmatic, following on from medical guidelines, please ensure they have an inhaler on then at all times and that we hold a spare within school. Many thanks.
