Y9 Wirral Cup

On 8th May, our Y9 team won the Wirral Cup after a hard fought game which finished 1-1, courtesy of a Theo Ogden-Jones header. The match went straight to penalties, and they comfortably won 4-3 after a brilliant save from goalkeeper Jack Booth and excellent finishes from Bobby May Hawkins, Callum Reynolds, Emerson Houlihan and Theo Ogden-Jones (again). Well deserved after a brilliant year of football, but now it's onto the defence of our title in 2025!

Library

This week's Book of the Week is Safiyyah's War by Hiba Noor Khan and is inspired by the true events that took place in the Grand Mosque of Paris during WWII where Muslims worked with the Resistance and saved hundreds of Jewish lives. Safiyyah is living in the mosque when war comes to Paris and as Nazis start to watch her father with suspicions of working with the Resistance, it falls to Safiyyah to run dangerous errands around the city. Can she be brave enough to lead the Jews to safety?

Safiyyah's War by Hiba Noor Khan (Andersen Press)

Our next Readathon will take place on Friday 28th June and our wonderful students will once again complete a sponsored read to help raise money for local children's hospitals. If your child would like to take part, please send them to the library to sign up.

Creating Career Pathways: LCR Hoteliers – Parent & Carer Session

Join us for a Creating Careers Pathways session for parents and carers, focused on LCR Hoteliers. Hosted by All About Futures/All About STEM (on behalf of the Liverpool City Region Careers Hub) and featuring a panel of representatives from local hotels. This session is your chance to find out more about the visitor economy and hospitality sector in the Liverpool City Region, to allow you to better support and inform your young person in their career choices. Come and find out more about what opportunities there are for our young people and hear from those working in the industry about the diverse range of people and skills involved. This session will feature information on the sector, jobs available in the region and a chance to ask questions from our panel of experts about their jobs and career journeys.
