Starship Co.
Green is the new Black!
Mossland’s Careers Champions and Year 10 construction students visited the Starship company (a locally-based regeneration developer) and during their operation tour around the Starships production base they had the opportunity to look at the future of green construction that is both environmentally friendly and also tremendously energy efficient. Who would have imagined that it was possible to build a complete house in a matter of days from high-precision manufactured sections plus, of course, a team of skilled craftspeople but that’s what the Starship group can do and so Mosslands students went to visit them. Constructed in conjunction with Octopus Energy utilising heat pumps or solar panels, these houses, when occupied, will represent a giant step towards Net Zero and be very cheap to run.
This use of more efficient and sustainable building materials will allow families to save money on their bills, especially heating, whilst also creating many jobs, as within the next 5 years around 4,000 apprenticeships will be given out to this development project and over 80,000 of these more efficient houses are due to be built here on the Wirral and all over the country. And if you look closely, you can even see Starship projects in the new safari-style luxury lodges at Chester Zoo.
