On Tuesday 14th October our Year 11 Engineering and Business Students went to a “See Inside Manufacturing” event at Vauxhall Motors in Ellesmere Port. The day was organised and led by 20 undergraduates who are currently employed by Vauxhall for a 12 month period as part of their degree courses.
Our students were split into 2 groups. They then spent approximately 20 minutes rotating around various tasks that were set up around the room including “guess the car part”, “spot the defects”, “football”, “build a car” and “change a tyre”. They also got an opportunity to tour the plant to see the cars being built and the employees in action.
In the afternoon each of the schools/colleges had to choose 3 volunteers (1 being a staff member) to do a relay race of changing in and out of PPE gear. Mr Dewis, Connor Jackson and Connor Ledder made a brave effort but unfortunately did not win the event.
